Laura Linney is an American actor, who became famous for her portrayal of strong but vulnerable characters. Her father was a celebrated playwright. However, she was raised as an only child by her single-mother and nurse. During the summers and with her father, Linney developed a passion for theatre. Her first stage experience was first through Brown University then at Juilliard School. After graduating from Brown University in the year 2000, she began making her Broadway debut soon afterward. In the space of two years from this, her first feature film hit the market, and next year her TV debut. In the years since, she's appeared in countless films and stage and TV productions. She received many accolades over the course of her career which included four Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Though she was awarded numerous prizes through the years, performing has always been her first love.
