April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4, 1995. In seventh grade she began playing guitar and taking piano lessons, sparking her interest in writing songs. April's first song was Different which she composed aged 12. At 14, April spent lots of time writing her lyrics, and perfecting her singing abilities. She started writing songs with her dad in NY and LA within a short time. April was able to add different topics that were relevant to the song, such as the Take my Hand song for some of her friends, like peer-pressure impairments and even suicide among teenagers. Lockhart is a beauty and lifestyle influencer who is gaining a loyal fan base. She is a partner with the popular brand Ilia with whom she has a partnership along with being a life expert. She was born without her left hand and that is part of who she is--but it's far from the entirety of her story. Because of this, her Instagram profile isn't afraid to talk about her disability, but the focus isn't on it in any way. What's the message? The message is of identities and that we're much more than just our physical self. Lockhart in a video message from Nashville's home states that I don't want this to be a part of me. I'm greater than the physical person I am. This doesn't influence my day-to-day routine. I carry on doing my job as normal and have developed my own ways to adapt. Since it's a part of me personally, it's something that's worth talking about. Lockhart is a great example for self-acceptance generally she is currently on a long process to attain it. Still, she admits going through various phases in relation to her body and feeling unsure about certain clothes which exposed her arms. Today, she wears anything she wants. and she shares pictures on social media. Self-love, she explains, is a kind of journey. "I don't think it's possible to be there," she said. It's true for all regardless of their degree of self-confidence. It's my opinion that having those close to you who truly know you and see your heart is really important because they'll also be the people that remind you of what are your worries about?
